James Grubbs is the Principal of Hattiesburg High School, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to educational excellence. With a career spanning over 16 years in education, Mr. Grubbs has held various leadership roles that have shaped his vision for student success and community engagement. Before his current position, he served as Assistant Principal for eight years at HHS, where he was instrumental in driving academic achievement and fostering a positive school culture.
Mr. Grubbs is passionate about creating an inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive. He is dedicated to working with teachers, staff, students, and parents to ensure that Hattiesburg High School continues to be a place of growth, innovation, and greatness.
He is excited to lead Hattiesburg High School and looks forward to contributing to the continued success of the school and its students.
Jastassia White is the Assistant Principal at Hattiesburg High School. She brings with her five years of teaching experience from the Meridian Public School District. Mrs. White is no stranger to the Hattiesburg area, having previously served as an administrative intern at Earl Travillion Attendance Center under the guidance of Dr. Christiana Pollard. Following her tenure at Laurel Middle School, Mrs. White became part of the dedicated team at Hattiesburg Public Schools. Outside of her professional commitments, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children and actively engages in community service.
Ms. Harmony Albert is an Alumni of Hattiesburg High School. She has 26 years of experience in education. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Millsaps College and both Masters in secondary mathematics and Specialist in Educational Leadership from William Carey University. She taught math in K-12 for 24 years being named Star Teacher in 2012 as an Algebra I teacher. She served as the Academic Coach at HHS for the last two years, before being named the Academic Dean.
Julie Arender is an assistant principal at Hattiesburg High School. Before becoming an administrator, I spent six years teaching Spanish at HHS, and I am truly a #burgbuilt educator. Working with students and seeing their success is my life's passion, and I am eager to serve HHS students and faculty in this new position to help them reach their full potential. In my free time, I love to spend time watching TV, going on walks, and eating good food with my husband John, and our dog Lola. We love the city of Hattiesburg and look forward to investing here this year!
